With a presidential election looming and the Commonwealth positioned as a contentious battleground state, it can be difficult to lose sight of the larger issues at stake.
Notably, the Mariner East pipeline system is nearing completion; we are in view of the light at the end of the tunnel. The project will be more enduring than November’s election. Already it has been a great source of tax revenue and job creation. Once operational the system will help further lower energy prices, which have afforded huge savings to commercial and residential customers.
Pennsylvania can control its own future. Moreover, there is a lot to do. Pennsylvania has vast resources in its Marcellus/Utica shale deposits. Continuing to invest in production, transport and processing infrastructure projects for natural gas will return many benefits to our communities; Mariner East is a step in the right direction and should be a bellwether for the successes to come with energy buildout.
