The Pennsylvania energy sector is off to a hot start in 2019.
Near the close of 2018 Energy Transfer announced that its Mariner East 2 project – through the incorporation of supplemental lines – is operational and delivering long-promised natural gas to the Marcus Hook complex.
News broke today that the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has approved the ‘Adelphia Gateway Project’ that will convert an oil pipeline to transport natural gas from Northampton County, PA to the Marcus Hook station in Delaware County, PA.
The project proceeds following a routine ‘environmental assessment’ conducted by FERC determining the project “would not constitute a major federal action significantly affecting the quality of the human environment.”
Consumers throughout the greater Philadelphia area will now have access to clean, low cost natural gas.
Projects like this and Mariner East 2 are essential to Pennsylvania’s long-term success. Let the news of 2019 set an important tone for the year – for Pennsylvania to see the benefits of its state’s natural resource critical energy infrastructure projects must be a priority.
