The Marcellus and Utica Shale Regions Are Leading American Natural Gas Production

The U.S. Energy Information Administration released a report, Drilling Productivity Report (DPR), which found that natural gas production in the Marcellus and Utica shale regions has accounted for 85 percent of the increased natural gas production in the U.S., since 2012. The increase in production can be attributed to technological advances, including improvements in the precision and efficiency of horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing.

In order for our region to continue expanding energy development, we must ensure infrastructure development is keeping up with production. There are several pipeline projects, including the Mariner East projects, that will help ensure our region remains an energy leader for years to come.
