Dear Governor Tom Wolf,
The Mariner East 2 pipeline is a critical infrastructure project that will provide countless benefits for Pennsylvanians – such as jobs, new private investment, to future access to natural gas liquids for consumers and manufacturers. Moreover, it will help bolster those who benefit from production in Western Pennsylvania, to manufacturers in Southcentral Pennsylvania, and to those working at the Marcus Hook Industrial Complex.
Colder seasons are coming; and for the Pennsylvania residents who depend on propane for winter heat and increased access to ethane to fuel manufacturing, it is necessary we move these products to market. The U.S. Department of Transportation Pipeline Hazardous Materials Safety Administration identifies pipelines are the safest mode of energy transportation, and modern pipeline projects like Mariner East 2 will utilize state-of-the-art technologies and round the clock monitoring to ensure safe construction and long-term operation.
As a member of one of the many local labor unions involved with this project, we are ready to get to work. The vast majority of the land required for the pipeline has been acquired; contracts have been signed with Pennsylvania and other American businesses for supplies to the build the project; and markets are ready to take Pennsylvania-produced energy goods to make the most of them.
All that is left is for your administration to approve the final permits needed to construct this pipeline. While any project of this magnitude requires thorough approval, we believe that the two years of planning and review that has gone into this project justifies its approval. We stand ready to get to work. Please approve this pipeline.
