PEIA Applauds Recent Court Ruling and Calls for Final Permitting

According to the Associated Press, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court shot down a request from disgruntled landowners targeting the Mariner East II pipeline. Undeterred from a defeat in court earlier this year, the three Cumberland County property owners attempted to bring their grievances to the state’s highest court.

PEIA applauds the court’s decision not to hear the case that represented a feeble attempt at delaying a project that has fully abided by the eminent domain laws. Obstructionist tactics will only hurt the state which stands to benefit greatly from the project

That being said, regulators still must give the project their final approval if Pennsylvania is to truly benefit from the project. Pennsylvania has a tragic history of letting glacial regulatory processes get in the way of economic development. Let’s change our course in 2017.
