According to recent reports from NPR’s StateImpact, Gov. Wolf indicated that he supports approval of the required state permits to build the Mariner East 2 pipeline project. The Pennsylvania DEP is currently reviewing Sunoco Logistics’ application but has given no indication when the project will be given the greenlight.
The project’s future is in DEP’s hands. It’s time for the permits to be approved so the pipeline can put in the ground safely and our communities can start to witness the benefits of long-term safe operations of this natural gas liquids pipeline.
PEIA strongly supports the PA DEP granting the permits for the Mariner East project. The project will generate tens of thousands of jobs and represent hundreds of millions in revenue for Pennsylvania. Projects like these are too important to let regulatory gridlock get in the way. Our members are ready to benefit. And many of our members stand ready to do the real work of building this pipeline – the right way. We’re ready to get to work.
