PEIA Marks Three-Year Anniversary

Earlier this month the Pennsylvania Energy Infrastructure Alliance (PEIA) marked its three-year anniversary. Since its inception back in 2015 PEIA has grown into a broad-based coalition that supports private investments in pipelines and other energy infrastructure, fueling Pennsylvania’s industrial and economic resurgence to become a leader in the industry.

The alliance was launched on June 8th by the Washington County Chamber of Commerce and Delaware County Chamber of Commerce, along with the Laborers International and Operating Engineers Local 66. Now in 2018 the coalition has 29 statewide members in labor, agriculture, conservation groups, the manufacturing sector, as well as other industrial and business interests.

Economic development opportunities that arise from new and continued investments in infrastructure are one of our main focuses. We are also committed to enhancing safety from responsible energy development. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, pipelines outperform all other types of infrastructure in safety, efficiency, reliability, environmental stewardship and cost.

PEIA has become a leading voice on energy infrastructure development, focusing on ways to utilize Pennsylvania’s standing as a leader in energy.

Among the group’s achievements since forming:

  • Took part in the NAIOP Pittsburgh and the Washington County Chamber of Commerce’s Coffee & Commerce event to discuss the need for energy infrastructure development.
  • Helped inform the community through media appearances via interviews and commentary.
  • Gave testimony and public remarks at federal, state and local public hearings and forums across the state.
  • Worked with experts in the field to set the record straight and ensure the dialogue about infrastructure investment is based on facts.

With a need for increased pipeline infrastructure development in Pennsylvania, PEIA continues to grow its base as more individuals realize the benefits from increased access to affordable natural gas and natural gas liquids.
