“We can – and should – do more.”

With a 17% population growth since 2000, Chester County has proven to be a great place to live, work, and raise a family. Per this population growth, Chester County has also benefited through a growing economy over the years. Yet, more can be done to take full advantage of the benefits offered by clean, affordable, homegrown energy resources.

A recent opinion editorial by Guy Ciarrocchi, President and CEO of the Chester County Chamber of Business and Industry, gave tribute to the remarkable work Chester County has done to expand its community. Over the years, the area has made investments in local jobs, infrastructure developments, and preservation of the area’s land. But Mr. Ciarrocchi strongly encourages the region to “do more” and continue investing.

He believes that through further investment in the overwhelming supply of natural gas in western and northern Pennsylvania, Chester County’s economy will continue to grow. Additionally, he urges:

“To help get that gas to the Philadelphia region to create a world-class energy and chemical hub to revitalize factories, spur investment and the growth of new unforeseen-businesses, and help the ports reach their full potential. We need to do our part to create jobs for steamfitters and longshoreman—and, chemists, engineers and accountants, and to develop products, devices or processes we can’t even conceive of today.”

Mr. Ciarrocchi reiterates that the Chester County Chamber is ready, willing, and able to help in supporting the expansion of shale gas infrastructure in Pennsylvania. He believes that by investing in this abundant, available energy, “Chester County will get a cleaner burning energy source accessible to their homes and businesses, a wonderful quality of life, and a growing economy here and in the region.”
